A poor woman named Lena will beg for your help. She needs some thread rush from the apothecary for her sick husband. She even offers her ring as payment.

You politely decline the offer and head out for the apothecary. It's just down over the next street so you head in and talk to the Apothecary. He tells you there has been a high demand for the plant from a nearby barony that is dealing with an epidemic. All he has left is old stock and he's not certain if it's still any good. His nephew had gone out looking for some in the mountains but has not yet returned. If you find the nephew, you'll probably find some thread rush.

You head out north of town looking for the him when you stumble upon a soldier's camp. well these guys look very unprofessional. Uniforms are mismatched and dirty and they look undisciplined. As soon as they see you they will attack. Soldiers attacking without provocation? Something's not right here.

Sure enough, as you look at the corpses you realize these guys are marauders - what's going on here? When you enter the camp you see a prisoner at the rear tent. The prisoner is Scout Turan and talking to him completes the first part of this quest.
