Sera_13.gif Activates a protective energy shield for a brief period. Incoming damage will be reduced and fully absorbed until energy is depleted or the shield's duration has come to an end. After use the energy used needs to be recharged for a considerable period of time.

Skills

The following skills will affect this combat art:

  • Warding Energy Lore increases shield hitpoints and damage mitigation values of Divine Protection.
  • Revered Technology Focus determines maximum Combat Art level, and also reduces the recharge time that is added to the fixed cooldown of the spell.
  • The Willpower attribute increases shield hitpoints.

Usage Strategies

Much information on the general usage of energy shields is given in the article Energy Shields.

Useful in a combo with Dashing Alacrity to reduce the amount of button pushing to cast temporary buffs.

The Improved Mirror modification appears to add a "Block Combat Art" effect, rather than a "Reflect: Combat Art" effect as it purports to.

The Capacity modification's increase of duration scales with Combat Art level. The Boost modification's decrease of cooldown also scales with Combat Art level. With both of these modifications, the duration begins to exceed the cooldown at CA level 34.2. At this point, it becomes practical to maintain Divine Protection 100% of the time. Duration is approximately 45 seconds at CA level 150. As of patch 2.40, the base cooldown of Divine Protection got changed to a flat value + a variable value which lowers when runes are read, making it impossible to maintain Divine Protection 100% of the time. However, it is still possible to maintain Divine Protection 100% of the time on Console versions.

As of patch 2.34, Divine Protection has a couple of apparent stacking bugs and can sometimes be drastically more powerful than it probably ought to be. These issues have been reported to Ascaron and may be changed in a future patch.
