Detailed Walkthrough
As soon as the intro cut-scene ends you will be under attack by the Student. Fortunately he doesn’t do much damage, and doesn’t attack quickly or move – he’s also very weak, one fireball (the default Combat Art available) will take him out. However, if you stand there long enough, he will kill you, and once you auto-resurrect, he’ll start attacking you again.
After defeating your fellow Student, talk to the Arch Mage off to your left (North). He will congratulate you and then tell you to head to the next settlement (Sloeford). Head around the outside of the tower to the gates – your initial chest is here, so loot it for some armour and runes.
Open the gates and head out, killing any bandits that get in your way. At the bottom of the hill the quest will update and the target location indicator will move to the centre of Sloeford.
Follow the roads North and then East to Sloeford.
When you reach the centre of the village a message will pop up to tell you who to speak to next.
For light characters this is the Village Elder, who will give you the next quest of your campaign, Levied Tax.
