You show the broken amulet to Barti. He examines it for a moment and determines the jewels must have some magical power. The Lich Princes have become much stronger lately and the undead attacks have been much harder to repel. If they somehow absorbed the magic from these jewels than that would explain the recent problems. If you can defeat the princes and recover the jewels, Barti is sure he can repair the amulet and neutralize it's power.
