Lord of the Rings

  • The Dryad saying, "What did the old man say? Fly, you fools!" is a reference to something Gandalf said while fighting the Balrog.
  • The NPC Elrohir in the Sinister Figures quest has the same name as one of the elves in LOTR. Haldamir and Elensar in that same quest have names that are extremely close to two LOTR characters, Haldir and Elessar respectively. Caranthir is also the name of a LOTR character.
  • Elven Star might be a reference to Elbereth, the brightest star in the sky (and the elven name for the Goddess of Light at the same time), who could help to defeat a powerful, yet impure enemy (undead or monster) and bring the light to the dark place.
  • A unique chestplate called Dwarvensilver Tunic may be a reference to the mithril-coat featured in all "Lord of the Rings" books as well as in "The Hobbit".
  • The Human Commandant near the portal in Khorum gives a quest called Soldiers of the Past, and in his dialogue he mentions talking to a priest to get aid from "special troops" to save the Humans in the region. When you talk to priest Migenyw he will tell you about a Sheik that promised aid in battle but never showed up, so he and his troops were cursed as Undead. You then need to perform an invocation to break the curse and have those "special troops" aid you in securing the area. This quest and its dialogues seem to bear a parallelism with the events on The Return of the King, when Aragorn retrieves the army of the dead do defend Gondor.

  • The Light of Eärendil throwpotion was made in image of Phial of Galadriel - an item of special properties that Galadriel gave to Frodo Baggins in Lord of the Rings. The original item was a flask filled with water from a fountain that held the light of Eärendil, the Star of Hope. The phial's main purpose was to bring light to dark places and Frodo used it to defeat the giant spider Shelob. That is why the legendary throwpotion has bonus to light range and is very effective against dark creatures and insects.
  • The boss Shelob is a reference to the giant spider that attacked Frodo and Sam as they entered Mordor.
