03.gif Long spears will sprout from the Temple Guardian’s body in order to protect him from attacks within range. This Combat Art does melee range AoE (Area of Effect) damage. Can be modded with WIDD/Knockback, Open Wounds and other mods (including an additional hit). Higher levels of Deathly Spears give multiple hits.

Innate Abilities (Lvl 1)

  • Damage (100% Physical): 21-21

Modifications

  • Batter - Chance for knockback. (50% + 1% per CA level chance)
  • Gore - Increased damage when TG is wounded. (80% + 4% per CA level, max at 25% life)

MODicons_10.gif Silver
  • Singe - Adds fire damage. (34.7% from base damage, damage type fire)
  • Occult - Adds magic damage. (34.7% from base damage, damage type magic)

MODicons_08.gif Gold
  • Jab - Adds an additional attacks(Jab will add 1 extra attack at CA level 1-15 you will get 2 waves, at CA level 16 Deadly Spears will have 3 waves, at CA level 42 with Jab you will have 4 waves of spikes and continues to add extra attacks every 20 CA levels after level 42.)
  • Wounding - Chance of causing an open wound/bleeding damage over time. (35% + 0.2% per CA level chance)

Usage Strategies

Deadly Spears makes an excelent area of effect attack(aoe). It can be used in combos with Fiery Ember, Icy Evanescence and Charged Grid. The Jab mod will increase its effectiveness as an aoe attack as well as a single target boss attack. The extra waves of jab can continue to go off after you have cast deadly spears and you can use other CA's while it is in effect.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Can produce a high amount of damage
  • Deadly Spikes is considered an area of attack spell and can be used against "cloaked" mobs/players
  • Great for both single target and multiple target encounters
  • Deadly Spears is mostly elemental damage and will change according to the damage element placed on your main hand weapon

Cons

  • Must be at high levels to see good results
  • The Jab mod is almost a "must have" for this CA which is the final gold mod, this can take time to reach since there are so many other important mods to take for the Temple gaurdian within the Devout Gaurdian aspect
