Although this is an ‘escort’ quest, Ambul is, to all intents and purposes, invincible on the way to the ritual site. Unfortunately he will run to the NPC teleport limit (the distance from the PC at which they are automatically returned to the PC’s side) in order to find enemies to fight...and then bring them all back to you.

Head north from the winery to the ruins where the ritual took place (see map below). If you are level 8 or higher I would recommend just running to the ruins and then dealing with the enemies in the immediate vicinity as this will cut down on Ambul's ability to swamp you with enemies as you travel. If you are under level 8 I would recommend travelling very slowly so that Ambul doesn’t succeed in his attempts to kill you.
