Skills and Attributes

The following skills will affect this combat art:

  • Concentration - directly reduces regeneration time for this combat art.
  • Combat Discipline - will increase the damage of this combat art and lower its regeneration time if it is placed in a combo.
  • Ancient Magic - directly increases the damage and reduces enemies' resistance to the damage of this combat art (skill is only available to Temple Guardian with CM Patch).

The following attributes will affect this combat art:

  • Stamina will lower regeneration time

Usage Strategies

  • Useful as a single-target hard hitting-magic attack, Primal Mutation's regen time can easily be lowered with the appropriate skills, and spammed against opponents.
  • Modify with both Helpless mods to maximize debuffing power and use against bosses and champions. Follow up with powerful melee attacks or damage spells as appropriate.
  • Combust will add fire damage and therefore give the versatility of a triple damage-type CA. Using in conjunction with Fiery Ember will reduce enemies' fire resistance and therefore boost the damage potential even more.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Direct damage CA
  • Very impressive visual effect

Cons

  • Only affects a single target
  • Long casting animation
  • When the target is turned into a chicken, it provides only 1XP, regardless of level.
  • The mutation effect can be somewhat annoying, as it can make tough foes even tougher, and make other foes into weak animals not worth killing.

Stats Chart

Level Regeneration Time Damage Chance to Mutate Opponent
1 4.9s 35-35 5.0%
2 6.5s 48-48 5.0%
