Revision as of 01:25, 8 October 2010

Play chess with giant pieces such as an orc and a boar. The quest for this Easter Egg allows pieces to come to life and manifest ghosts. It is called Nouveau Varguz and is given by the orc chieftain in Tharak, where it will take you to a cave just northwest of that town.

It is bugged in MP, but can be completed with the use of the last Community Patch for SP.

Explanation:

It is a Single Player Campaign Quest only. Below the first picture is from LAN and is the same scene as Closed Net. The second is in Single Player Campaign and as you can see it is completely different.

The chess figure 'rook' is named 'Turm' in german. Turm is also german for tower. This may have lead to some confusion.

There was a discussion in the German Sacred Forum for the single player chess match.

With a developer congratulating a poster who found out the correct chess match:

It seems to be Bobby Fischer versus Pal Benko which is mentioned in Fischer's book My 60 Memorable Games

A hint is that you find a book as a quest called 'My 59 best chess games'. Since most people don't know the chess match found in sacred, it sounds logical that there are only 59 games left to be memorable ;)

Congrats to all the chess players around there for their memory of chess matches. Fischer's winning move was with the Rook/Turm and Fischer died in January 2008, probably around the time quests were coded.
