This quest is a lovely one. Takes hardly any time, gives you much needed runes, and even grants you a Runemaster in Sloeford. What more could you wish for !
However, first things first. Where can you get this quest?
As you can see on the map above, The quest starts in Sloeford. Go to the center of the town Zamanar is standing near the merchant.
He will tell you that his son went missing, and he would like you to find him. Obviously, for the child's sake, you undertake this mission. The easiest way to get to your target it by following this path:
Once you get to the location, you are at a grassy area in the middle of some trees. In that grassy patch, there is 1 small bush (the one the arrow points to). The Alpha Wolf (the rectangle) is always near this bush.
After you slay the beast, the Runemaster's son will suddenly jump out of the bushes. He will tell you of his brave, but stupid, attempts to kill the wolf, and how he had to hide. Click on the little boy to make him follow you. Return the boy to Zamanar to complete the quest.
After talking to Zamanar again, he will reward you with some gold, experience and 2 runes. But the best part is, that he turns into a Runemaster, which you can keep on using from now on.
Once more the runemaster's son stayed playing at the river bank longer than his father has allowed him to. The runemaster asked me to go look for his son. Afterwards he'll provide me with his services.
I found little Zaman surrounded by wolves. He is horribly scared and will surely be glad to return into the safety of his father's arms.
The son has safely returned. The runemaster made me an offer to trade in runes I can't use for other runes. He even lets me pick the ones I want. This is very helpful for when I want to focus on individual abilities.
- This is the only quest in the Tutorial Runemaster chain quest.
- The Community Patch groups this quest together with the other Tutorials into a chain called The Hitchhiker's Guide to Ancaria.
- After completing this quest, a Runemaster will be available in Sloeford, near the waypoint, making rune-exchanging very accessible.
- The son, Zaman, will sometimes show up as a companion later on in the game. He seems to come and go randomly. He does a good job of staying out of the way.
